Below here would be a showcase of the survey and interviews conducted.

Survey Data Report

The general population of pet owners tend to prefer buying purebreds instead of adopting strays.

Majority of the non pet owners were given a question “If they were to pass by a stray what would they do”. More than half tend to ignore and walk away. Which states that for most people adopting strays are not their first option. (Most of them states that strays might harm them)

Pet abandonment and the lack of awareness are the main causes of the production of stray animals

Most of them agreed that Malaysia should practice TNRM (trap, neuter, release and manage) programe.

In conclusion, this is all due to the lack of awareness and the public tend to think that the other parties are going to do something about it vice versa

Interview findings

Younger participants prefer purebred as it gives them status and they claim it to be a “personal preference”.

Older participants prefer companions instead, therefore they do not mind adopting strays.

There’re some circumstances which limits the possibilities of adopting strays. (such as time and money)

Notable findings are a quote by one of the interviewee stating “Pets are like your children, u don’t neuter your children. right?” There seems to be a differences in opinions when it comes to neutering.

Most of them are afraid of strays, as they might be dirty and spread diseases, also claims that the strays have a certain stray attitude which is
not preferred by a certain individual.

Conclusion

Not all strays have certain attitudes as it’s the opposite. Animals are animals if they are treated well, some may show more
gratitude compare to others.

Feeding strays are not enough of a contribution although it does help them but it does not make much differences, looking at the numbers of strays.

I agree as some strays has the possibility of spreading diseases but it are mainly cause by them not being vaccinated and adopted.
